The Northern Mariana Islands
are a chain of 14 islands stretching over 600km in the
Northen Pacific Ocean, near Guam. It is next to the Mariana
Trench, the deepest waters on the planet at over 11km.
There are three main islands, Saipan, Rota and Tinian
all providing gorgeous beaches, diving and fishing.
There are plenty of examples of the bloody battles that
raged here in WWII – Tinian was the island used
to launch the atomic weapons on Japan.
These islands are the second most popular destination
with Japanese tourists after Guam and as such
are starting to become a package holiday type
of place. To uncover the islands history and culture,
it’s best to visit Rota or Tinian.
