Situated on the eastern coast of Arabia, looking out over the Indian Ocean, Oman's varied landscape and maritime history make it a uniquely interesting Arabian destination.
Oman has plenty to offer tourists, especially those with a taste for adventure and sensitive development under His Majesty Sultan Qaboos means that it has retained its culture, heritage and character unlike neighbouring Dubai.
Omanis are extremely hospitable, welcoming people and
are happy to show visitors their country of which
they are very proud. English is widely spoken and
although Oman is an Islamic country, bars and restaurants
serve alcohol. You should wear long sleeves and
trousers or long skirts when visiting traditional
Omani areas, but otherwise there are no dress restrictions
and on the beach and at the poolside swimwear is
de rigeur. Topless sunbathing is, unfortunately,
a definite no-no.
