Slovenia has strong French
and Germanic influences and was became part of the Socialist
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1945. Following independence
in 1991, Slovenia was fortunate to escape the bloody conflict
in the Balkan region in the 1990s. Its 10-day war with
Yugoslavia was eventually brought to an end with the help
of the European Community.
This left a relatively stable and peaceful country,
with the advantage of a small bustling coastline
right up to the Julian Alps for skiing and hiking.
Visit one of Slovenia’s spa towns for a
multitude of cures - Rogaska Slatina is a prime
example.
