Sandwiched between Switzerland
and Austria, Liechtenstein is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it
kinda place, but has much more than banks if you venture
out a bit.
The royal family dates back to the 12th century, the
house of Liechtenstein being one of the older families
in Europe. The family had vast holdings in what is now
the Czech and Slovak Republics – a source of discontent
even today.
Travellers on a budget will want to make this a short
visit as Liechtenstein is one of the most expensive
European destinations. However, there is good
skking to be had in Malbun and hiking & mountaineering
for the adventurous.
