The Isle of Man is a curious place and lies in the Irish Sea between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Although English is spoken and UK currency accepted, islanders have their own Celtic language (Manx) and currency.
The coast is always close by with nice beaches, picturesque headlands and bustling harbours. The capital, Douglas, is well known as a financial centre and shopping destination and retains its Victorian heritage. The transport system is in fine working order 100 years after it started with a network of steam trains and electric trams.
A slightly faster mode of transport is seen every May with the Isle of Man TT motorbike races and in the summer months there are cycling, rallying and karting events.
