Hungary

Hungary’s capital Budapest is made of two formerly independent cities Buda and Pest separated by the River Danube. Continuing the watery theme, Hungary has many beautiful lakes to visit of which Lake Balaton is one of the largest in Europe. Tipping is commonplace in Hungary, so expect to tip around 10% for just about everything.

The best time to visit is in late spring / early summer when the weather is warmest an the scenery the most beautiful – those looking to embrace the outdoor lifestyle will enjoy the many national parks, which are also good for keen bird-watchers. Try to walk down the Danube in Budapest at night, to see all the well-lit buildings.
