Georgia on my mind? Not for
a long time as the various dynasties and empires came
and went and it was called Iveria, TSSR and then Georgia.
It is now emerging from the shadow of the former Soviet
Union as civil unrest is calming down.
One of the oldest Christian nations dating back 2500
years, Georgia has many beautiful churches and cathedrals,
including the Sioni Cathedral Church in Tbilisi. It
is also a land of diverse natural beauty, with the Black
Sea coastline in the west and Greater Caucasus mountains
in the north.
If you want sandy beaches, you’ll have to hit
the northern end of the coastline, but you’ll
be vying for lounger space with landmines from
previous conflicts, so best stick to pebble beaches
further south!
