Not everyone’s top destination,
but there’s something alluring about visiting such
an isolated continent and one which is not ‘owned’ by any particular country.
Antarctica can be classed as a desert as it receives
less precipitation in the centre of the continent than
the Sahara desert. You can only really reach Antarctica
in summer (November to March) as in winter the ice pack
extends 1000km around the continent that ships cannot
pass through.
There are 20 hours of daylight in the summer so you
can set your watch by your home country of wherever
you’ve just come from. This allows great opportunity
to see penguins and whales.
